A Hero Once Again

This morning, Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao, tagged as the boxing hero of the Philippines proved that he was the better in his bout between Antonio Barrera Of Mexico. I personally was not able to watch the match but as the news would say, the valiant fighters fought twelve rounds of grueling pound-per-pound body beating where in the end, the Filipino protagonist emerged victorious.

All the same, it was not a humiliating defeat for the Mexican. It was predicted by boxing analysts and aficionados that he would not last more than 3 rounds and succumb to a knockout. However, he proved everybody wrong by fighting the Pacquiao- a younger and a lot fitter fighter at the prime of his career - to the last bell. He indeed earned the respect of the Filipinos.

Barrera- the older and probably, wiser fighter - did employ some dirty tricks in the game when he still pounced on Manny while the referee was breaking them off. An act of wisdom? I don't think so.

Nevertheless, it was a win for the Philippines and as of presstime, Filipinos from all over the world are celebrating in jubilation of yet another success of a fellow Filipino.
