You are The Star

Hope, expectation, Bright promises.

The Star is one of the great cards of faith, dreams realised

The Star is a card that looks to the future. It does not predict any immediate or powerful change, but it does predict hope and healing. This card suggests clarity of vision, spiritual insight. And, most importantly, that unexpected help will be coming, with water to quench your thirst, with a guiding light to the future. They might say you're a dreamer, but you're not the only one.

You are very open. You communicate well, and you connect with other people easily.
You are a naturally creative person. Ideas just flow from your mind.
A true chameleon, you are many things at different points in your life. You are very adaptable.

You are a seeker of knowledge, and you have learned many things in your life.
You are also a keeper of knowledge - meaning you don't spill secrets or spread gossip.
People sometimes think you're snobby or aloof, but you're just too deep in thought to pay attention to them.

You are a seeker. You often find yourself restless - and you have a lot of questions about life.
You tend to travel often, to fairly random locations. You're most comfortable when you're far away from home.
You are quite passionate and easily tempted. Your impulses sometimes get you into trouble.

You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

A Source of Pride and Jubilation?

It has almost been public knowledge that I have not finished college. Though I tried, it seems to have the penultimate power to free itself from my grasps.

Just last May 30, I graduated with a degree in Nursing. I thought to myself, finally, i can escape the premises of the classroom; my mama - as melodramatic as most moms are - can have her day to shed bucketfuls of tears and do her own little drama moment; and I can finally, look for work and be self-sufficient.

However, I tried to resist the idea of my family having a big celebration in honor of this graduation day. Trust me, I did all my best for it not to push through. I do not have to go through the details of it - I'm a theatre person and you know what we do. Hehe.

As you can see, my efforts were futile - so futile that our quaint little home has been swarmed with relatives, friends and neighbors eager to extend me their congratulations. Lots of kisses landed on my cheeks, lots of hand were offered to shake and lots of smiles and even, laughter thrown around the place on my behalf.

If I were 21 years old, I would have felt okay with it. However, I am years past the age of graduation. It can be a little awkward.

Through it all, I sported the best persona I can, smiling without any care in the world. Of course, who would not be happy of having a () GPA and a medal to boot.

After the smoke has subsided, the real task is finding the best job. I've been searching and constantly looking. There were sure shots; there were uncertainties. I am just waiting for my options to present themselves and choose the best career path.

Graduations are really surreal and ironic. Now, I know it.

Are Singing Contests in Doom?

Being a frustrated singer myself, I have constantly weighed in my mind whether to audition in the various TV shows offering to jump start anybody's career in singing. Aside from nationwide fame it brings, the pride of having to sing to wider audience showcasing the best vocal talent you currently have is in itself a great honor.

That is why, the Pinoy Dream Academy has always been lingering at the back of my mind. If not for the very hectic nursing schedule during the days of auditions, I would have mustered enough resolve and storm to the nearest audition venue possible. However, I did not because I did not have the luxury of time.

Of the recent developments, two scholars from Cebu have made it to the school for singers. Trust me, I am equally proud of them to have gotten that far.

But there are some questions I have long to ask about this talent search cum reality show.

I would have to put it off for some more days though. My mind is in a daze and I need to carefully collect my thoughts.

To be Continued...

P.S. Salamat kay JCBATAN para sa imahe.

Have You Ever

Have you ever felt trapped in a world once so familiar?

Have you ever lost touch of something once within reach?

Have you ever felt nude even with clothes on?

Have you ever been blinded by a bright ray in the dimmest of nights?

Have you ever been a stranger to your family and friends?

Have you ever felt the current on still and silent waters?

Have you ever seen yourself perpetuated in others?

Have you ever looked at the mirror and saw no one?

Have you ever felt alone in a crowd?

Have you ever held on to something beyond your grasp?

Have you ever appreciated the taste of something bland?

Have you ever felt ashamed of a convincing achievement?

Have you ever tracked an invisible person?

Have you ever dreamed of bright stars walking on earth?

Have you ever felt the powers-that-be conniving for your exultation?

Have you ever stared blankly with much intent?

Have you ever heard dogs hiccup in the dead of the night?

Have you ever felt swirling on a never-ending line?

Have you ever thought of a million things in split second?

Have you ever had your senses lie to you blatantly?

Have you ever felt your mind play tricks on you?

It has just begun.

Good Things Come in Small Packages

I have only been aware of Britain's Got Talent just recently when our very own, Madonna Decena, graced their stage and literally blew the judges away. Now, from a looks of it, the Filipina Diva has got herself a competition in the person of Charlie Green.

Charlie is a 10 year old boy and would you believe he likes the genre of Frank Sinatra and the likes. He is a product of a multicultural love between a Filipina who hails from my hometown CEBU and a Brit. Charlie is infectiously likeable more than his American Idol counterparts. Hopefully, he'll finish good in the competition if not win it all the way.

Looks like good things are bound to happen for Filipino talents abroad.

Thanks Starmometer for never failing to update us with wonderful news about Pinoys.

Watch out for the Next Pinoy Breakout Star?

Britain's Got Talent made Simon Cowell a household name even before American Idol. Many have tried to get past him but failed. Some wept gallons of tears, some fell to their knees, some tried to smart talk him but all their efforts seemed a little futile.

In the newest edition of the show, a brave single mom named Madonna ( ironic isn't it?) Decena, who by the way is a Filipina, not only wowed him but also the unforgiving British crowd. Are we ready for the next FIlipina Breakout International Star? See for yourself. She could very well be very big as in humongous in the future.

Why Carly?

I admit I am not a big fan of her, but honestly, she sure got the most powerful voice in the competetion. She can belt out any note like nobody's business. She can take on any song as if it were her own. Sure, he may shriek like an angry banshee at times but she has delivered most of the times.

It just makes me really wonder why she was booted out of American Idol today?

Was it because of her lack of charisma with the viewing public?

Was it because of her released album that may have irked some fans deeming her overqualified to compete?

Was it a means of eliminating possible traps and competetions for the sure winner Archuleta?

Well, I could only surmise as much as anybody would. Needless to say, another plant in the competetion has been unrooted leaving us with limited choices.
What do you think?

Whatever Happened to Dawn and Angel?

Looks like Pantene is gearing towards younger but nonetheless, equally famous models. As of late, I have seen the new commercial and it now stars Judy Ann Santos and Claudine Barretto.

For me, nothing much has changed really. Except for the changes in the actors, Pantene has lived up to their advocacy towards celebrating beautiful Filipina women.

(Request po to ng kaibigan....Gotta give in...hehehe)

Could This be the Next Big Hit?

I do not necessarily watch tv. I could only do every so often especially when I am not really tired from all my nursing duties.

Yesterday was the start of a beutiful long weekend ahead. Of course, I took the most out of it and watched as much TV as I can. The newest season of the reality singing competition, Pinoy Dream Academy, is up and coming. I think it is due to start this June or much later.

They were in the middle of ointroducing some possible contenders when this guy sang this song: Mukha Kang Sofa.

Could this be another invasion of a literally unknown into mainstream pop culture of the Philippines? Is this going to be the next big novelty hit?

You be the judge.

New Coke Commercial

This is another beautiful concept from our advertising friends. Although some may disagree with as it may be a bit blasphemous, I find the cinematography and the execution well done.

I hope a lot of commercials of this caliber would be seen on the boob tube in the days, months and years to come.

Ang Arte ng MUMU

Welcome Back to me! Hehehe.

Took me months of souls searching para lang gambalain ng commercial na 'to. Ang resulta - di ko mapigilan magpost about it.

The concept was so ingenuine. Never expected something like this to come out from the great minds of advertising guys. Kudos to you!

Now watch at your own expense! To those who have shared my luck of having watched this, were you spooked out?

Ako hindi pero kung ako yung babae surely I would be!

Life in All its Splendid Glory

Before I even start ranting about how messed up my life is right now, I thank those who have sincerely missed me and my posts among many other things.

Just when I thought I had a blast in Manila, I had this very awful realization and revelation of some sorts that hit me so hard like magma slowly eating up my dry skin.

Due to the rarity of its occurence, I , quite hastily, took the earliest flight to Manila last Feb. 7. I had solid 5 days of non stop fun that even I have not recovered from fully just yet.

When I came back to Cebu, life seemed normal.

UNTIL.....

1. Being absent for my duty in a special area of psychiatric nursing would deem me up for a repeat rotation. This is due to the fact that I haven't been able to attend the orientation and next week would be the last week of the schedule.

Fuck 'em. Just when did this effing school follow rules and since when did they realize that nursing students would need to develop discipline? Not until today. Not until I had to be the victim of their inconsistencies and at most incompetence. I am a victim of circumstance and it's so effing unfair that a generally good student like me would end up suffering the consequences of some other student's misdemeanor.

And beat this, my boarlike RLE coordinator said to me, " I am a coordinator. I make schedules for everyone not personal schedules. I am nobody's personal secretary!".

Beat that! The nerve of her. Biatch!
But again I have to put up with that because after all, I am still in her crooked supervision. Dammit!
